SIS - GCT - Glazed Creosote Treatment Creaway Hotspot Chimney Cleaner

SIS - GCT - Glazed Creosote Treatment - 12kg

12kg tub

Glazed Creosote Treatment (GCT) is a powder that safely and effectively modifies glazed or third-degree creosote so that it can be more easily removed by chimney sweeping. The time it takes to chemically modify third-degree creosote with GCT will depend on many variables such as: type of wood, moisture content, burning habits, air flow, flue size and amount of existing build-up. In some cases, the reaction time is fairly fast, within a week or two. Other more difficult build-up problems may require regular use and multiple cleanings during the heating season to completely modify the existing third-degree creosote.

• Effective on all types of creosote
• Helps prevent chimney fires
• Reduces creosote odours
• Chimneys clean easier and more completely when swept
• Ready to use
• Fast and easy to use

  • 1. Protect the working area, clear furniture and lay sheets, cloths and other protective measures.
    2. Wear suitable protective clothing, Chemical goggles and suitable respirator mask.
    3. Clean the Chimney thoroughly using traditional or rotary methods to the best of your ability, removing any loose debris/soot.
    4. Warm the chimney using an electric heater (2 x 3kw) or propane heater(15kw) to an approximate temperature of 60c. This is required to apply the GCT treatment.
    5. Fill a Dust Sprayer with the recommended amount of 2kg of GCT and pump up until pressurised.
    6. Close access to the room including all doors and windows.
    7. Apply product directly into the chimney, NOT in/on the fire.
    8. Using the Duster Sprayer, spray up the flue system in the direction of the air flow. Repeat as necessary until you see no visible signs of creosote.
    9. Whilst applying the GCT, have the heater running whilst carrying out the spraying operation.
    10. Check with a torch and mirror or a led lit camera to see if there is enough coverage, check the chimney top too if you have safe access.
    11. Continue to apply product until the entire chimney is coated and you cannot see the creosote.
    12. Clean the site and instruct the customer to use the heater for a minimum of 2 - 4 hours daily for 2 weeks.
    13. Return 2 weeks later to the site, re-sweep the chimney using an aggressive rotary whip head to remove the expanded modified creosote.
    14. Check condition of flue and if tar is still present then repeat the process.
